Countdown to Saturday

Less than a week to go to the Summer tournament.  We've already got 8 confirmed players and everyone seems to be excited to see the pot grow.  A couple of points as we head into the week:
  • The tournament starts at 10:00 PM.  For some people, that is a late starting time.  Get some rest so that you'll be ready to rock when the cards are being dealt and the chips are being played.  I expect the tournament winner to be crowned somewhere between 12:30 - 1:00 AM.  If that is a late hour for you, be prepared.
  • I'll bring some beer and soda (Coke).  If you have other refreshment choices, feel free to bring those along.
  • Don't forget to bring $20.  If you don't buy-in, you can't play.
  • All players will start with the same number of chips with NO opportunity for additional buy-ins.  Stay thirsty, my friends...and bet wisely.
  • Remember: Jaira is the defending champion.  She knows how to play.
Tournament starts at 10:00 PM.  Doors will be open at 9:30 for those wanting to arrive early.  I will be updating this blog throughout the week.  "So don't nobody go nowhere."  (Anyone know what movie that line came from?)

Jaira wins!

Jaira not only had some nice hands, but she played a great game of poker in taking top honors in the first installment of the BB Invitational Poker Tournament.  I was very impressed with how well everyone played.  Things started conservatively with all of the players feeling each other out, but things started rolling at the two hour mark as the pots and blinds were getting big.  Jaira was crowned champ less than an hour later when she faced off with Jake and won the last two hands as she was sitting on KK and AK in the pocket on those hands.

I was thrilled with how everything turned out and I want to thank everyone who came and played.  Mark your calendars for June 23rd, as that will be the Summer Tournament with a late night starting time of 10:00 PM.  I expect to have a big turn-out for this one, so get your name in early if you want to take part as I will be capping the field at 24.

Lastly, for those who played and want to provide some feedback, I would love to hear your thoughts.  (For example, what was the bigger hit. . . Pretzel M&Ms or Almond?  Buy-in too much?  Too little?  Did things move too fast or too slow?  Was Jake being nice or condescending?)  Let me know by commenting below.
